Kitten School

Momma Cat Lila Finds Her Purrfect Family

Lila chilling at her new home like the cool, righteous queen she is.

A few months ago beautiful two-year old Lila was surrendered at the shelter along with her 4 week old kitten, Leo. The two were immediately transferred to Kitten School to recover from ringworm and to allow Leo time to nurse and grow old enough to be weaned. I adored Lila from the very start. She was gentle and gregarious, rubbing her head against my face at every chance and filling the air with her sweet, musical “trills”. Lila was a doting mother to Leo, who was a very boisterous and active kitten. With no siblings, it was up to Lila to entertain Leo and she did so with love and patience.

At two months, Leo was old enough to be neutered and was quickly adopted. With older cats it can take much longer to find a home, so I was thrilled when I heard from a family looking to adopt an adult cat. They already had a five year old Siamese and wanted to add a second cat into their home. Lila had already proven to be cool, calm and friendly when I let her mingle with my own cats. It was obvious that she wasn’t out to claim territory or start fights, and when one of them got pissy and hissed she just turned and walked away. I knew immediately that Lila was the right cat for this family.

When the family came to visit Lila she greeted them immediately, asking to be petted and rolling on the floor making her little trills. It was instant love! Lila’s adopters picked her up a few days later, and she has since integrated herself with grace and ease into her new home. Her new Siamese brother is still a little shy around his glamorous and energetic sister but the two are starting to become friends. With her gentle demeanor and irresistible charm, I have no doubt Lila will eventually win him over completely.
